AnswerPrompter

Short answers to the questions on your call, right under your Mac's camera.

Coming soon to the Mac App Store

For Macs with Apple silicon and macOS 26 or later.

A call on a MacBook: someone asks "What does it cost per seat?" out loud, and the answer "$48 per seat a month, 10% off above 500 seats" comes out of the notch under the camera. What does it cost per seat? $48 per seat a month, 10% off above 500 seats
On a MacBook with a notch, the answer comes out of the notch, a few millimetres from the lens, so you keep eye contact. On other displays it sits at the top centre.

How it works

  1. Add your notes

Prices, product facts, your bio, a plan for the call. PDF, Word, Markdown or plain text. With a Claude key, it can also research who you're meeting and add a short brief.

  2. Start listening

AnswerPrompter lives in the menu bar. It transcribes the call and your microphone on your Mac.

  3. Read the answer

In Auto, when the other side asks a question, a short answer appears under your camera in about a second (without a key, when your notes match it). In Manual, press a hotkey when you want one.

AnswerPrompter transcribes everyone on the call. Tell the people on your call, and get their consent where the law requires it.

What it does

Privacy

No account, analytics, ads or tracking, and the app sends us none of your data. Audio never leaves your Mac.

Only if you add your own AI key and allow it, text from the call and your notes go to the AI provider you chose. Read the privacy policy.

Frequently asked

No answers appear.

Check the menu bar icon's menu: it says whether AnswerPrompter is listening to the call and to you. If it can't hear the call, turn on AnswerPrompter in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen & System Audio Recording. Answers need notes, or an AI key.

What does an AI key cost?

You pay the provider directly, at its prices. A question usually costs a fraction of a cent; researching a call, about 6 cents with Claude.

What is sent, and to whom?

Nothing until you add a key and allow it. Then your notes and, when the other side asks a question or mentions your notes, or you press Answer Now, the last minute of the call's transcript go to the provider you chose. Research before a call sends who the call is with and your notes to Anthropic, whichever provider answers. Never audio. See the privacy policy.

The people on my call can see the answer.

Hiding depends on how each app captures the screen. Tell us which app and how you share, and try the other way in the meantime.
